Police have set up tight security in the sensitive Turkman Gate area. Police and paramilitary forces are deployed to keep the peace. "Drone surveillance and extensive CCTV monitoring are being carried out to keep a close watch on the area. The situation is peaceful and under control," said a police officer. Investigations are ongoing. Police are analyzing digital evidence and identifying those involved in spreading false information and stone pelting. The incident started after an anti-encroachment drive near Faiz-e-Elahi mosque in Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on the night of January 6-7. During the drive, people threw stones and glass bottles at police, injuring five officers, including the station house officer. Police responded by using force and teargas to control the protest. Tensions rose after a social media post falsely claimed that the mosque opposite Turkman Gate was being demolished during the anti-encroachment drive, leading to large gatherings and unrest, police said.
