January 10, 2026
The Nalgonda district police arrested Shah Allah Rakha, 30, a driver from Khalghat village in Madhya Pradesh, linked to an interstate gang stealing gold from passengers on buses at highway roadside eateries. They recovered 600 grams of gold ornaments worth about ₹85 lakh from him. The arrest followed a 15-day surveillance operation in Madhya Pradesh. Shah Allah Rakha was caught near Umar Bhan Cross Road in Madhya Pradesh and brought to Nalgonda on a transit warrant. The case began on December 5, 2025, when gold was stolen from a bus near an eatery on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway. Police used technology to identify habitual offenders from Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh. During interrogation, Shah Allah Rakha confessed that he and his associates—Ashraf Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Jabar Khan, and Umar Khan—had committed the theft and had targeted buses on Telangana highways for years. The gang also stole cash and gold near Vijayawada highway hotels in 2022 and 2023. The five members have past records in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. The recovered gold, worth ₹85 lakh, was intact. Special teams now hunt the remaining criminals. District SP Sharat Chandra Pawar said, "The remaining members of the gang would be arrested soon."
