The Revenue Department reclaimed 31.37 acres of government land in Thirumalaisamudram village, Thanjavur taluk, on Saturday. This followed a directive from the Madras High Court on January 9 to remove unauthorized occupants. The land, marked as uncultivable wasteland under government ownership, was previously held by SASTRA University. Acting on the court’s orders, officials took back control of the land and handed it over to the Prisons and Correctional Services Department. The Thanjavur Tahsildar officially gave possession to the department’s Superintendent. Authorities confirmed that this action complied fully with the court ruling and existing revenue records. Further administrative steps will happen according to government rules.
