Etihad Airways Launches Direct Abu Dhabi-Luxembourg Flights from October 2026
January 10, 2026
Etihad Airways announced direct flights between Abu Dhabi, UAE, and Luxembourg, Europe. Starting October 29, 2026, the airline will operate three weekly flights using its new Airbus A321LR aircraft. This marks the first time a Middle Eastern airline serves Luxembourg, a key European hub bordered by France, Germany, and Belgium. Etihad CEO Antonualdo Neves said, "This is not merely a new flight route; it is the first direct air link between Luxembourg and the Middle East and it opens new horizons for business, tourism and cultural exchange." The route aims to boost connections between the UAE and the European Union. Luxembourg, though small, connects major European markets, making it attractive for business travellers, tourists, and transit passengers. The flights offer seamless access to Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport, which connects further to destinations in Asia such as Thailand, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, and India. The use of fuel-efficient A321LR jets aligns with industry efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Business leaders and diplomats welcomed the move as a boost to economic, cultural, and trade ties. The route also helps position Abu Dhabi as a global travel hub. Etihad has previously expanded routes across North America, Africa, Asia, and Australasia to connect under-served city pairs. Aviation experts say the direct Abu Dhabi-Luxembourg flight meets growing demand for efficient, nonstop travel. This new air link not only eases travel but also strengthens ties between two vital economic regions, supporting post-pandemic global mobility and strategic aviation ambitions for the UAE and Europe.
