The Karnataka government has approved the upgradation of health centres at five locations in Kalaburagi district, announced Priyank Kharge, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister and district in-charge, on January 7. The existing 30-bed Community Health Centres (CHCs) at Kalagi and Yadrami taluk headquarters will now have 50 beds. Meanwhile, Primary Health Centres (PHCs) at Ijeri (Jewargi taluk), Farhatabad, and Hiresavalagi (both in Kalaburagi taluk) are upgraded to 30-bed Community Health Centres. Mr. Kharge said, "Kalagi and Yadrami, being taluk centres, required expanded healthcare to handle growing patients." Also, "Ijeri, Farhatabad and Hiresavalagi are emerging villages with rising populations, so upgrading is needed." He added that he wrote to Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao for approval, which was granted quickly. Mr. Kharge described this as "significant in improving access to quality healthcare" for local people. He said the State Government is fulfilling promises to Kalaburagi residents by opening new health facilities and upgrading existing ones to meet public demand.
