Officials rushed to Hippargi barrage on the Krishna river in Bagalkot district after reports of partial damage to a gate. Engineers found a plate on the 22nd gate was damaged, likely from water pressure. The dam holds about 6 tmcft of water. Water is leaking heavily. Around 0.72 tmcft has leaked, though the exact amount is unknown. District in-charge Minister R.B. Thimmapur visited and spoke with engineers. He asked Deputy Commissioner Sangappa and officials to consult experts and fix the damage properly. The Minister told reporters, "The State government will start work on the repairs immediately." He also said there are no reports of crop damage from the leakage. Assistant Commissioner Shweta Bedikar, Tahsildars, and engineers were also at the site. The situation is being monitored closely to prevent further damage.
