Superintendent of Police Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath launched the Annual Police Sports and Games Meet 2025 on Saturday at the Police Parade Ground in Kadapa. The event started with a symbolic release of balloons and pigeons. National-level hockey players AR Head Constables M.S. Vijayabhaskar and Vijay Kumar, along with football player G. Rajashekhar, presented the sports torch to the SP. He received a guard of honour on the occasion. Mr. Nachiket told participants, "Sports help enhance both mental and physical fitness and play a vital role in bringing out the sporting talent among police personnel." He urged officers and staff to "compete in the true spirit of sportsmanship," stressing that "winning or losing was secondary." He also said the sports meet gives "mental relaxation to personnel who are continuously engaged in duty" and helps recognize their hidden talents. Teams from six police sub-divisions – Kadapa, Mydukur, Proddatur, Jammalamadugu, Pulivendula and the District Armed Reserve – will compete in kabaddi, volleyball, football, athletics, running races, high jump, long jump, cricket, shuttle, and other events. The three-day meet promises exciting sports action and camaraderie among police personnel.
