A new complaint has surfaced against the police in Kerala for alleged misconduct during New Year celebrations at Geo Ground, Pathanamthitta district. DJ Abhiram claims police interference and destruction of his gaming laptop. "I bought this gaming laptop with my hard-earned money to DJ at events. Now Kerala Police has turned it into a New Year’s gift by destroying it. What can ordinary people like us do? How can we even complain?" he posted along with video footage on social media. The incident happened late at night after the event went past its scheduled time. According to Abhiram, the show was going well when a policeman stopped the event abruptly. Another officer then came on stage and kicked the laptop, damaging it. The Pathanamthitta police denied these allegations. An official said, "Our intervention became necessary after a scuffle broke out at the venue and repeated requests to stop the event were ignored." The police also said the laptop damage claims were unfounded. The Chief Minister’s Office has ordered the ADGP in-charge of Law and Order to investigate the matter and take proper action.
