Russia has strongly criticized attempts by Europe and Ukraine to change US proposals aimed at ending the Ukraine war. Vladimir Putin’s top foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, told reporters on Sunday that these proposed changes "definitely do not improve the document and do not improve the possibility of achieving long-term peace." Ushakov added he had not seen the exact proposals and called his remarks "not a forecast." Meanwhile, Ukraine’s joint taskforce said fierce battles continue in the village of Grabovske, in the north-eastern Sumy region, where Russian troops tried to break through. Ukraine denied reports that Russian forces had taken the nearby village of Ryasne. The Ukrainian rights ombudsman also reported that about 50 people were forcibly moved from Grabovske to Russia. US intelligence sources told Reuters that Putin intends to capture all of Ukraine and reclaim parts of Europe once under the Soviet Union. Putin recently insulted European leaders by calling them "little pigs" and promised Russia will reach its goals by diplomacy or force. Despite this, US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met Russia’s envoy Kirill Dmitriev in Miami, describing talks as "constructive" and ongoing. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio may join these discussions. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said diplomatic efforts were advancing "quite quickly" with US help. Ukraine supports a US idea for three-way talks involving Washington, Moscow, and Kyiv, especially if these help with prisoner exchanges. However, Ushakov said the three-way talks proposal had not been seriously discussed by Russia. France welcomed news that Putin might talk with Emmanuel Macron, seeing this as a positive sign for ceasefire hopes. Putin’s gesture came after EU leaders agreed to supply €90 billion to support Ukraine’s economy and military. Recently, Ukrainian drones struck an oil rig and other facilities at Russia’s Filanovsky oil field in the Caspian Sea, located about 700 km from Ukraine’s border, according to Ukraine’s military general staff.
