Maharashtra’s second phase civic body poll results will be announced today, December 21, 2025, as vote counting begins. Voting was held for president and members posts in 23 municipal councils and nagar panchayats across the state. A total of 143 vacant member posts were up for grabs. Voting ended at 5:30 p.m. on December 20. Bigger local bodies like Baramati and Ambernath were part of the polls. Polling started at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, with the State Election Commission (SEC) reporting 47.04% turnout by afternoon. Some wards in Sinnar, Ozar, and Chandwad had around 49.47% turnout. The final turnout numbers are expected today. Several voting irregularities surfaced on polling day. In Ambernath, about 200 women were reportedly brought in as bogus voters. Fake Aadhar cards were also used to impersonate voters. Such issues were found in other places like Nanded and Panvel too. The Special Investigation Team’s report on Ambernath is expected today. Investigations are ongoing in all affected areas.
