An Army jawan has been arrested in Ranchi, Jharkhand for allegedly raping a 22-year-old woman at Tatisilwai Railway Station on Thursday evening. The incident took place around 5:30 pm when the woman was waiting to board a train to Ranchi. The 42-year-old jawan took her to an empty train coach and allegedly raped her. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) official stated, "The Army personnel was on duty guarding a defence logistics train. He was reportedly in an inebriated state when he committed the crime." The accused is from Sarha police station area in Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh, and is posted with the 42 Medium Regiment in Patiala, Punjab. Passengers at the station heard the woman's cries and raised an alarm. Railway police arrived quickly and apprehended the jawan, who tried to flee and suffered injuries. An FIR was filed based on the woman’s statement. He was produced in court on Friday and sent to judicial custody.
