DGCA Safety Audits Show Hyderabad Airport Clear, Minor Lapse Found at Delhi Airport
December 18, 2025
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) recently conducted safety audits at five major Indian airports: Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Patna. This routine check was to ensure compliance with aviation safety rules. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol revealed this in Lok Sabha on Thursday, responding to Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi.
The DGCA found no major or serious safety violations at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) or other airports inspected. However, a procedural lapse appeared at Delhi airport during engine maintenance of an Airbus A320-251NX (VT-ICP). The lapse involved not using a required borescope inspection tool and missing mandatory safety equipment during the maintenance work.
All findings were classified as Level II issues. These were forwarded to relevant organizations like ground handlers and airport authorities to fix. After corrective actions, Action Taken Reports (ATRs) were submitted. The DGCA accepted these reports and closed all findings.
On concerns about ramp safety and reporting culture in civil aviation, Minister Mohol said the DGCA has included these matters in the Annual Surveillance Plan (ASP) 2026. Special audits and unplanned checks will continue to ensure safety.
