IUML Workers Booked for Vandalism and Caste Slur in Kerala Panchayat Office
December 17, 2025
Perambra police registered a case under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against IUML workers. They allegedly barged into the Changarooth grama panchayat office on December 13, vandalised property, and insulted the outgoing panchayat president with caste slurs. The complaint was filed by Unni Vengeri, an LDF leader belonging to a Scheduled Caste community. Mr. Vengeri said around 25 IUML workers entered the office after election results were announced. They damaged office accessories and sprayed cow dung water on the premises as a “purification exercise.” He claimed this was to humiliate him and others from his community. LDF activists protested the incident, condemning the humiliation of their leader.
