Bengaluru has launched a joint operation to check pubs, bars, and restaurants for safety violations ahead of New Year celebrations. This is the first time multiple departments are working together after the Goa pub fire tragedy. The Bengaluru City Police, five city corporations, Bescom, Fire and Emergency Services, Health and Family Welfare, and Excise Department are involved. Establishments violating floor plans and trade licenses can lose permission to hold parties. Those hosting concerts or events with public figures must have a pass system and a crowd management plan. Authorities will cancel permissions immediately if rules are broken. A senior police officer said, "Many establishments flout approved floor plans and install additional structures to increase floor capacity. Such minor violations can lead to disasters, which is why we have launched this early drive." Officials will also inspect kitchens for cleanliness and check waste disposal systems. Major party hubs like Central Business District, Koramangala, Electronics City, Dr. Rajkumar Road, New BEL Road, and Indiranagar must strictly follow all rules. Each department will target specific violations: police on security, civic bodies on licenses, fire department on fire safety, Bescom on electrical systems, and excise on liquor storage. Violations must be fixed to get clearance to host parties. All party plans, guest lists, and DJ details must be submitted to local police for background checks before New Year's Eve. Organizers must have full CCTV coverage. Hotels are banned from room parties and must limit occupancy to bed count. Paying guest facilities must share temporary resident details with police before December 31. This move aims to avoid disasters and keep celebrations safe and orderly.
