A policeman died in an ongoing anti-terror operation in Jammu’s Udhampur on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bhim Sen Tuti said, "A small team of SOG (Special Operation Group) had an encounter with three terrorists, and our officer, Amjad Ali Khan, was hit during the firing. We tried to rescue him but lost him due to the excessive blood loss." The operation started Monday afternoon after terrorists were traced in Soan village. "The cordon and search operation was launched Monday evening in Soan village following a specific input. The input proved accurate and a small team of the SOG came under fire from terrorists," IGP Tuti said. The terrorists fled towards the jungle after the first firefight. "A joint operation with the army and CRPF is on and the jungle area has been surrounded," added IGP Tuti. He described the terrain as "extremely difficult, with hilly features and thick forest cover." The operation is ongoing to track down the terrorists. Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat and IGP Tuti paid tribute to the fallen officer at a wreath laying ceremony in Udhampur. Amjad Ali Khan was a resident of Mendhar Tehsil, Poonch. Jammu & Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary honored him, saying, "Saluting the supreme sacrifice of Khan, who was martyred in action during the Majalta, Udhampur encounter. His courage and devotion to duty will never be forgotten."
