Dramatic footage shows Boris Gurman, 69, and Sofia Gurman, 61, bravely trying to stop the Bondi beach gunman on Sunday. The couple was among 15 victims killed in the Sydney terror attack. Boris tackled gunman Sajid Akram as he stepped out of his car, which displayed an Islamic State flag. Sofia also joined the fight. A dashcam and drone footage captured the bold confrontation. The Gurman family shared, “We are heartbroken by the sudden and senseless loss of our beloved Boris and Sofia Gurman.” They were married for 34 years and planned to celebrate their 35th anniversary in January and Sofia’s birthday on December 17. Boris was a retired mechanic known for kindness and strength. Sofia worked at Australia Post and was loved by colleagues and her community. Together they lived honest, hardworking lives in Bondi. “Our family feels proud of their bravery and selflessness. They instinctively tried to help others,” their family said. The attack injured 38 others; 24 remain hospitalized, including two police officers. Boris and Sofia’s friends and co-workers paid tribute, laying white roses for the courageous couple. Other heroes, like Ahmed al-Ahmed, also tried to stop the gunman. Ahmed is now in stable condition after being shot multiple times. Sajid Akram was killed by police. His son Naveed is under hospital guard. The Bondi terror attack is the worst mass shooting in Australia since the 1996 Port Arthur massacre, leaving the city mourning brave civilians who faced danger fearlessly.
