Bengaluru’s Silk Board double-decker flyover ramps incomplete, delay extends to 2026
December 16, 2025
Despite the start of Namma Metro’s Yellow Line, big parts of Bengaluru’s double-decker flyover near Silk Board junction are still unfinished. The 1.37 km stretch of ramps connecting HSR Layout with Ragigudda and BTM Layout remains under construction. Officials now say the ramps will only be ready by January 2026, missing the original June 2025 deadline. Built by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited at ₹449 crore, this 5.12 km flyover aims to reduce traffic jams at this busy junction. The main signal-free corridor opened in July 2024, but the crucial ramps are still incomplete. This delay annoys many daily commuters. Ramkumar S. from BTM Layout said, "incomplete ramps have forced motorists to continue using crowded surface roads." Manjunath K.M., a Banashankari resident, added, "Double-decker flyover is one of the city’s most promising infrastructure projects, but its partial opening had limited the usefulness." A BMRCL official told The Hindu that most work is done, but no exact timeline is set beyond January 2026. Currently, three ramps (A, B, and C) are operational, connecting Ragigudda to Hosur Road and parts of HSR Layout and BTM Layout. Two ramps, D and E, are still being built. Ramp D will connect HSR Layout to Ragigudda over the metro line; Ramp E will link HSR Layout to BTM Layout. Meanwhile, Bengaluru's planned rotary flyover near Baiyappanahalli is stuck in the planning phase due to high tender bids. Announced in 2017-18 at ₹360 crore, this flyover has not started construction. Resident Vignesh Kumar said, "Traffic congestion during peak hours has become unbearable." The delay keeps adding to the city’s traffic troubles. The flyover delays highlight ongoing challenges in Bengaluru's infrastructure projects.
