Uber Enables QR Metro Tickets & Launches Uber Direct Logistics in Bengaluru via ONDC
December 10, 2025
Commuters in Bengaluru can now buy Namma Metro tickets directly on the Uber app. From December 10, Uber launched QR-based ticketing powered by the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). The app accepts UPI payments and shows real-time metro info. This feature is already live in Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai, making Bengaluru the latest metro city to get public transport integration in Uber’s app. Uber said it aims to let users discover, plan, and pay for their trips all in one place. Along with metro tickets, Uber also started its B2B logistics service, Uber Direct, on ONDC’s network. This service supports businesses by delivering groceries and food without the customer needing to interact until the driver arrives. Uber Direct began operations in Bengaluru on December 10, partnering with Zepto and KPN Farm Fresh. Soon, it will add food delivery for brands like KFC, Burger King, Taco Bell, and Rebel Foods. J. Ravishankar, Managing Director of BMRCL, praised Uber’s integration, calling it good for seamless travel and for improving first- and last-mile connectivity. He said Uber’s entry expands travel options for commuters. Bengaluru is called a “playground for innovation” by Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia. Singh said Uber Direct and metro ticketing in Bengaluru fit Uber’s vision to help people “Go anywhere, Get anything” and work well with ONDC’s open platform. Currently, Bengaluru metro tickets can be bought through other apps like EaseMyTrip, Rapido, Redbus, and the official Namma Metro app, among others. With Uber joining this digital ecosystem, metro travel and logistics services in Bengaluru are set for a more connected future.
